Keith Nixon, of Lower Hutt, MNZM, for services to Fire and Emergency New Zealand
Keith Nixon has been a career firefighter for 43 years. He helped establish the New Zealand Firefighters Welfare Society and was elected to the Board, later becoming Chairman, a role he still holds. He has worked tirelessly to ensure firefighters are supported, notably following the 2011 Christchurch earthquake, when he led a team from the Society to work with the fire service welfare team. He has been an executive officer of the New Zealand Professional Fire-fighters Union and the Fire-fighters Credit Union. Within his local Stokes Valley community, Mr Nixon has been involved with the RSA, rugby club, Our Lady of the Valley Parish, and Serious Crash Unit.
