Ruth Busch, of Auckland, MNZM, for services to domestic violence prevention and the State
Ruth Busch is a family lawyer who co-produced a report that formed the basis of the Domestic Violence Act 1995. She worked on the Bristol Ministerial Inquiry that led to the enactment of violence provisions in the Care of Children Act. She is part of the Ministry of Justice’s Expert Reference Group examining the efficacy of family justice reforms. Since retiring from her role as Associate Professor of Law at the University of Waikato, she has continued her advocacy work and now runs two free family law clinics. Ms Busch helped found the Hamilton Abuse Intervention Project, a domestic violence NGO.
