Denise Wood, of New Plymouth, QSM, for services to the community
Denise Wood is a retired nurse who now volunteers for the New Plymouth District Council and the New Zealand Red Cross. She is a member of the New Zealand Merchant Navy Association and has promoted knowledge and understanding of the sacrifices made by seafaring nurses during the First World War. She has also undertaken work for the RSA, including as a volunteer receptionist. Mrs Wood is a committee member for the University of the Third Age and has provided volunteer support for the homeless and refugees resettling in her local community.
