Faye James, of Palmerston North, MNZM, for services to the New Zealand Cancer Society
Faye James worked for the Cancer Society from 1990 until her retirement in 2018. She played a key role in the development of Daffodil Day, organising fundraising efforts and introducing a range of merchandise to help with fundraising. She introduced the ‘Relay for Life’ event to New Zealand by hosting it in Palmerston North and has helped establish it in other regions. Mrs James served in an advisory role on a number of committees with the Cancer Society at a local, regional and national level. Her co-ordination efforts have raised more than five million dollars for equipment, research, education, and support services in the Manawatu region.
