Ms Pauline Stansfield, of Auckland, for services to people with disabilities
Pauline Stansfield was involved with the 1980 Year of the Disabled Person and played a part in allocating funds to those most in need. Her autobiography, ‘Russia Changed my Life’, outlines her journey since an accident in 1969 that left her paralysed from the waist down. She has helped to educate the public about necessary care for wheelchair users. She was Secretary of the North Shore Disabled Persons Assembly. She volunteers at the Otara Spinal Unit, providing encouragement and support to those in extensive periods of rehabilitation. Ms Stansfield has been involved with the Ministry of Elevate Christian Disability Trust and is an active Justice of the Peace.
