Mrs Marianne Bishop, of Wellington, MNZM, for services to the union movement and the community
Marianne Bishop was a nurse for more than 30 years. She joined the Service and Food Workers Union (SFWU) in 1997, becoming a union delegate. In 2009, she was elected to the SFWU National Executive and later became Central Region President. After SFWU’s merger to form E tū, she sat on its National Executive for three years. She has been actively involved in many union campaigns. She is a member of the Pan Pacific South East Asia Women’s Association and President of its Wellington Area Group. Mrs Bishop has been part of the National Advisory Committee on the Employment of Women and a representative at the International Women’s Caucus.
