Mr Turangapito Parata, Hawera, QSM for services to Māori, health and youth
Turangapito Parata was a Trustee of Te Runanga o Ngati Ruanui Trust and helped develop Taranaki’s first Māori-owned and operated GP service. He is a Department of Corrections youth mentor and part of the South Taranaki District Council’s Iwi Liaison Committee. He provided youth home care services in Hawera, sat on the Police Advisory Board, and chaired Ngati Ranui Kura Kaupapa and Taiprohenui Marae. He provides karakia and blessings for the Department of Conservation and South Taranaki District Council. A former rugby player, Mr Parata has been a Hawera Rugby Club and Taranaki Māori Rugby Team committee member.
