Ms Denise Ritchie, MNZM, of Auckland, for services to the prevention of sexual violence and exploitation
Denise Ritchie is a practising barrister. She was involved with ECPAT, the global network of organisations working to end the sexual exploitation of children, and then founded Stop Demand, which works to change societal attitudes and standards that perpetuate problems of exploitation.
She has presented at numerous international events and has promoted law reform in the areas of child sex tourism and child sex abuse material.
She has consulted on changes to laws on prostitution and various other issues arising over the exploitation of women and girls, and is often consulted by specialist government groups. Ms Ritchie initiated a community campaign in Kaikohe to address issues of sexual abuse.
