Ms Michele Hine, MNZM, of Auckland, for services to performing arts education
Michele Hine has been a professional actor, director and acting teacher for 40 years. She has taught at Unitec, Toi Whakaari/New Zealand Drama School, and Auckland and Victoria Universities.
She co-founded Unitec’s Bachelor of Performing and Screen Arts and has developed and taught courses in characterisation, improvisation and introduction to acting techniques.
She is co-founder and Artistic Manager at The Actors’ Program in Auckland. She was a founding Board member and Chair of the Basement Theatre not-for-profit performing arts venue.
Ms Hine received an ASB Trust Teaching Award in 1996 and an Auckland Theatre Award in 2012 for her performance in ‘The Idea of America’.
