Ms Melissa Moon, of Wellington, MNZM, for services to athletics and charitable causes
Melissa Moon is a long-distance runner who has won 21 New Zealand athletics titles and twice been World Mountain Running Champion. She has won the World Tower Running Championship and World Vertical Running Championship, and in 2020 was recognised by the World Mountain Running Association as the second-ranked female mountain runner of all time.
She participated in the Blue Planet Run around the world, a 95-day non-stop relay race aiming to provide safe drinking water to 200 million people by 2027. She guided internationally ranked blind runner Maria Williams in the London Marathon. Ms Moon is a Malaghan Institute Ambassador and Patron of Project K, a youth mentoring programme
