Dame Cindy and Dr Peter Maddison, of Katikati, MNZM for services to conservation
Dr Peter Maddison was a member of the Royal Forest and Bird Society’s National Executive for 15 years, including four years as President. He is a member of the Society’s Waitakere Branch. He was a founding member and Trustee of Weedfree Waitakere and Eco Matters Trust. He is scientific advisor to Project Parore, an ecological restoration project based in Katikati. His ‘BioBlitz’ ecological surveys have led to the discovery of several new species. In 1999, he identified the presence of the Painted Apple Moth in New Zealand, which averted a potential disaster for the horticulture industry. Dr Maddison is a Fellow of the Royal Entomological Society of London.
