Mrs Nikki Denholm, MNZM, of Auckland, for services to humanitarian advocacy and photography
Nikki Denholm co-founded Exposure International, a communication company focusing on social justice issues.
She founded the New Zealand FGM (Female Genital Mutilation) Education Programme and the African Refugee HIV/AIDS Programme.
She has authored national FGM guidelines, was an FGM technical advisor to the World Health Organisation, and drove FGM legislation change in New Zealand. Her ‘Mothers of Bosaso’ photographic project raised $175,000 for Somali hospitals during the 2010 famine.
Her book ‘Freedom’ documents the lives of prison inmates across 17 countries. She is a Board member of counter-sex-trafficking organisation LIFT International.
Mrs Denholm is co-founder and Director of ‘The Light Project’, which addresses the impacts of pornography on youth.
