Mr Alf Filipaina, MNZM, of Auckland, for services to the New Zealand Police and the community
Alf Filipaina was a long-serving member of the New Zealand Police, becoming its first Pacific Liaison Officer.
He co-created the Counties Manukau Pacific Wardens and established the Auckland Regional Pacific Wardens.
A former Manukau City councillor, he was elected to Auckland Council as the first Māori/Pacific Councillor for the Manukau Ward. He chaired the committee developing the Auckland Unitary Plan and is deputy chair of the Environment and Communities Committee.
He helped form the Counties Manukau Police Rugby League Team.
Mr Filipaina is a Director and Trustee of Counties Manukau Rugby League zone, Chairperson of the Mangere Law Centre, and Deputy Chair of Tūpuna Maunga o Tāmaki Makaurau Authority.
