Mrs Lala Frazer, MNZM, of Dunedin, for services to conservation
Lala Frazer has continued her involvement with Save the Otago Peninsula since her retirement 14 years ago.
She took responsibility for the operational management of the Department of Conservation Every Scientific Reserve and campaigned for Dunedin City Council’s purchase of a 328-hectare block now managed by the Hereweka Harbour Cone Trust for landscape, cultural, recreational and ecological purposes.
She was inaugural Chair of the Trust and has organised year-round working bees for the planting of indigenous trees in the Smith’s Creek catchment.
She edited and coordinated the publication of ‘Otago Peninsula Birds – A Pocket Guide’.
Mrs Frazer was a founding Trustee and has continued with the Yellow-eyed Penguin Trust.
