Mr Grahame Fong, ONZM, of Auckland, for services to powerlifting
Grahame Fong helped found the New Zealand Powerlifting Federation in 1984, served multiple terms as President and is its current Patron. He wrote the Federation’s current constitution. He was instrumental in drafting and signing a Memorandum of Understanding with Special Olympics New Zealand. He was Vice-President and President of the International Powerlifting Federation (IPF). He was a founding member and office holder of the Oceania Powerlifting Federation. He is New Zealand’s only IPF Category One referee, officiating at all events up to and including World Champions. He coached New Zealand powerlifter Cathy Millen to win five World Championships and break numerous records. Mr Fong has been involved with the national administration of bodybuilding and billiards and snooker, and is an international judge in both of these sports.
