Confirmation of the Speaker ceremony

The Speaker of the House of Representatives will be elected at the Commission Opening of Parliament on Tuesday 7 November.

Following the Commission Opening, the Governor-General will confirm the election of the Speaker at a ceremony at Government House.

Media wishing to cover the Government House ceremony are asked to register with Nerina Bennett at Government House, ph 021 470 583.

A media bus will depart from the Parliamentary Forecourt at 1300 on 7 November and will return at the conclusion of the ceremony. Media arriving at Government House independently will not be admitted. Media are reminded that a reasonable standard of dress is required at Government House.
