The Governor-General, the Rt Hon Dame Patsy Reddy and Sir David Gascoigne depart for an official visit to Australia on Wednesday 2 June, 2021.
The four day programme begins in Canberra, with Dame Patsy and Sir David participating in a traditional indigenous Welcome to Country ceremony, followed by a State Ceremonial Welcome at Government House.
They will also visit the National Arboretum to plant a tōtara tree, and lay a wreath at the Australian War Memorial.
On Friday, Dame Patsy and Sir David will travel to Hobart, where activities will include a visit to MONA – Museum of Old and New Art, and the Australian Antarctic Division.
The visit has been planned in accordance with Australia’s Covid-19 rules. Dame Patsy and Sir David will be following all guidelines, including wearing masks where necessary.
