Marilyn Waring
Professor Marilyn Waring, of the North Shore, received the Insignia of a Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit, for services to women and economics, on 15 April 2008. She became New Zealand’s youngest MP in 1975 when aged 22 and was active in the areas of equal rights of women, abortion law reform and matrimonial property reform. She is a member of AUT University’s Institute for Public Policy and a member of the Board of the Reserve Bank.
