Mr Ross Wilson, of Wellington, CNZM for services to the trade union movement and workplace safety
Ross Wilson (Ngāi Tahu) has been a lawyer and union leader and has held governance roles across the public, commercial and NGO sectors. He co-authored Brooker’s ‘Employment Law’ and wrote ‘Health and Safety in Employment’. He was President of the New Zealand Council of Trade Unions. He was founding Chair of Unions Aotearoa International Development Trust (UnionAID) and Chief Technical Adviser for the International Labour Organisation in Myanmar. As Chair of Worksafe New Zealand, he unified government, business, union and iwi to support new legislation and regulatory frameworks. He has led union campaigns for an improved Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) and was Chair of the ACC. Mr Wilson was instrumental in establishing Iti Kōpara – Public Governance Aotearoa, an independent charitable trust providing training for Crown entity board members.
