Mrs Karen Morrison-Hume, of Raglan, KSO, for services to the community
Karen Morrison-Hume is CEO and Missioner of Mahi Mihinare Anglican Action in Hamilton. She was instrumental in establishing Te Ara Hou Social Services Village, a pioneering initiative housing multiple social service agencies. She has been committed to providing vital services to at-risk individuals. She advocated for the groundbreaking youth justice initiative Te Hurihanga. She led a community campaign opposing the sale of Hamilton City Council’s pensioner housing. She was a founder and Trustee of the Hamilton Combined Christian Foodbank and of the Combined Housing Action Research Group. She has served on numerous governance committees of church and community-focused organisations. Mrs Morrison-Hume has held leadership roles in the Hamilton Council of Christian Social Services, Hamilton Methodist Social Services, the New Zealand Council of Christian Social Services, and Poverty Action Waikato.
