Mrs Debra Sorensen, ONZM, of Auckland, for services to Pacific health
Debra Sorensen is CEO of Pasifika Medical Association Group (PMA), which provides health services for Pacific people in New Zealand. She has fundraised for scholarships for young Pasifika people studying health. She has supported Pacific disaster relief work. She is CEO of Pasifika Futures, the Whānau Ora Commissioning Agency, and Moana Pasifika Super Rugby Franchise. She has been an advisor to Pacific Health Ministers and chairs the Minister of Health’s Pacific Expert Advisory Committee. She chaired the National Pacific District Health Board Committee. She helped establish a company to deliver the MFAT programme ‘The New Zealand Medical Treatment Scheme’ in Pacific Island countries. Mrs Sorensen was Chair of ‘Make A Wish’ Pacific and a Trustee of the Fred Hollows Foundation and the Consortium of Tongan Organisations in New Zealand.
