Ms Allyson Hamblett, of Auckland, KSM for services to people with disabilities and the transgender community
Ms Allyson Hamblett chairs the Local Advisory Committee of CCS Disability Action’s Auckland branch. She was a governance committee member with PHAB, an organisation supporting physically disabled people. She established a transgender support group through the Auckland Pride Centre. She has campaigned for gender recognition in New Zealand legislation and wrote the books ‘A Life Lived Twice’ and ‘Love God Love Your Neighbour and its OK to be Trans’. Ms Hamblett is Disability Advisor for Māpura Studios, which provides creative programmes to marginalised and diverse peoples, and has exhibited with the studio and supported other artists.
