Mr Don Geddes, of Ashburton, MNZM for services to Fire and Emergency New Zealand, Land Search and Rescue and the community
Mr Don Geddes worked with Ashburton District Council as Principal Rural Fire Officer and Civil Defence Emergency Management Officer. He helped implement a Welfare Trust, supporting volunteer firefighters and their families. He has volunteered for Land Search and Rescue New Zealand (Land SAR) for 50 years and chairs the Methven Group. He chaired the Canterbury Regional SAR Committee. He was a Gazetted Advisor (Land SAR) to the New Zealand Police and sat on a National Land SAR Advisory Panel. He is a Trustee and Chairperson of WanderSearch Canterbury, providing radio-frequency devices for vulnerable individuals at risk of wandering. Mr Geddes was a Trustee of the Mid Canterbury Rural Support Trust.
