Mr Don Scott, of Wairoa, KSM for services to Fire and Emergency New Zealand and civil defence
Mr Don Scott established the Onewhero Rural Fire Brigade, serving as its first Rural Fire Controller. He volunteered with the Eastland Rural Fire Brigade and helped establish the Tamatea Rural Fire Force. He is Health and Safety Officer and Welfare Support Officer for Wairoa Volunteer Fire Brigade. He drove the inclusion of Rural Forces as members of the Forest and Rural Fire Association of New Zealand, later serving as a Committee member. He carried out volunteer civil defence functions with numerous District Councils, providing leadership for earthquakes, flood events and Cyclone Gabrielle. Mr Scott was Treasurer of Hokitika Lions Club.
