Mr Scott O’Donnell, of Invercargill, ONZM for services to business
Mr Scott O’Donnell is an Invercargill businessman and philanthropist who led the expansion of H W Richardson Group (HWR) into petroleum, rural transport and waste sectors. He supports HWR’s development of green hydrogen, including the first hydrogen-diesel dual-fuel truck in New Zealand. He developed the HWR Group’s property portfolio, and was appointed CEO in 2016. As Chair of Invercargill Central, he led a joint venture on a $180 million redevelopment of the city centre. Mr O’Donnell supported the development of the Classic Motorcycle Mecca, Toot Sweets, Bill Richardson Transport World, and The Lodges at Transport World. He Chairs Blue Sky Pastures Limited, is on the Board of MotorSport New Zealand, and promotes Invercargill’s George Begg Motorsport Festival. Mr O’Donnell was involved in developing Hawthorndale Care Village, a dementia and elderly care facility.
