Mr Lindsay Wright, of Gore, KSM for services to rural communities and mental health
Mr Lindsay Wright was Chair of the Southland Rural Support Trust (SRST), and led the SRST response to a September 2010 snowstorm, visiting every affected farmer and providing them with support packages. He worked alongside Civil Defence and MPI in response to droughts, the 2020 Southland floods, and the outbreaks of Bonamia ostreae and Mycoplasma bovis. He staffed an after-hours support line for farmers and their families in times of crisis, and arranged coffee carts and barbeques to encourage farmers to meet neighbours. He ran the GoodYarn workshops to strengthen resilience and help rural people respond to stress.
