Dr Mark Fraundorfer, of Mount Maunganui, MNZM for services to health, particularly men’s health
Dr Mark Fraundorfer is Head of the Urology Department at Tauranga Hospital. He has pioneered minimally invasive techniques that are now standard practice internationally. He has helped reduce stigma around men’s health issues, and promoted early detection of prostate and testicular cancer and erectile dysfunction. He has led community education campaigns and education seminars, held free men’s health clinics, and contributed to public policy discussions. He served as Medical Advisor to the New Zealand Underwater Association. Dr Fraundorfer developed the Kathleen Kilgour Centre in Tauranga, an independent radiation oncology service, and has helped expand other medical services, including Grace Hospital in Tauranga and Wakefield Hospital in Wellington.
