Mrs Alison Price, of Arrowtown, KSM for services to music education
Mrs Alison Price developed a music department of excellence at Wakatipu High School, and her students have won multiple gold medals at South Island jazz competitions, and achieved success in the Smokefree Rockquest and Play It Strange competitions. She co-founded the Lakes Music School, now Turn up the Music Trust, which now offers after-school music tuition across 14 instruments, for over 300 children. She has co-directed programmes offering subsidised lessons, instrument access and ensemble opportunities. Mrs Price has trained teachers, organised school visits by musicians and designed curriculum that integrates music with literacy and numeracy.
