Mr David Rogers, JP, of Stratford, MNZM for services to conservation and Māori
Mr David Rogers (Te Ātiawa, Ngāti Ruanui, Taranaki, Ngāti Mutunga, Ngāti Maniapoto) helped survey the public track network of Te Papa-Kura-o-Taranaki, stock-proofing the boundary, and establishing essential infrastructure. He helped establish the Around the Mountain circuit, the Park’s hut network, and the Taranaki crossing. He helped design DOC’s national sign network, and the hut ticket system. He worked on options for an ANZAC trail from Anzac Cove to Chunuk Bair in Gallipoli. Mr Rogers worked alongside hapū to develop Pukerangiora Pā as a Heritage Icon site, and has been involved in Treaty settlements. He has been Chair of Whakaahurangi Marae and Manukorihi Pā, Director of the Ngāti Ruanui Management Group, and President of the Stratford Basketball Association.
