Mrs Liz Maire, of Auckland, MNZM for services to conservation and education
Mrs Liz Maire has worked for the Department of Conservation, alongside the Supporters of Tiritiri Matangi, the Moturoa Island Restoration Society and the Hauturu Supporters Trust, and is an educator with the Tiritiri Matangi education team. As a foundation Trustee of The Forest Bridge Trust, she helped build a team that achieved mustelid control across 54,000 hectares, and her programme about the impact of pests and predators on native species has been delivered to all schools between Kaipara Harbour and the Pacific Coast. Mrs Maire co-founded Women’s Outdoor Pursuits (WOPs), and has volunteered with the Mountain Safety Council and Land Search and Rescue in Auckland. She is a pest control volunteer at Shakespear Regional Park.
