Mr Mark Fisher, of Auckland, MNZM for services to sexual health, particularly people living with HIV
Mr Mark Fisher has worked to improve the lives of people living with HIV. Under his leadership, Body Positive launched the world’s first HIV-positive sperm bank in 2021. He has led efforts to expand access to HIV prevention tools, to increase access to HIV and STI testing, and to destigmatise people living with HIV. He has advocated for equitable policies, including ending the ban on blood donation for gay men. He has brought greater visibility to HIV in New Zealand, through the National HIV Treatment Seminar, and the annual AIDS Candlelight Memorial. Mr Fisher initiated the Te Whare Āniwaniwa Rainbow Hub project, and is Chair of the Te Whare Āniwaniwa Collective Trust.
