Dame Pieter Stewart
Dame Pieter Stewart, of Darfield, received the Insignia of a Dame Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit, for services to fashion and the community. Dame Pieter is the creator and managing director of New Zealand Fashion Week and has spent more than 21 years promoting New Zealand fashion. She founded New Zealand Fashion Week in 2000 and is now the managing director of New Zealand Fashion Week. She founded her own modelling agency and promotions companies in the 1980s and was associate editor for Fashion Quarterly Magazine from 1985 to 1987. She co-ordinated Corbans Fashion Collections, an annual television special, from 1990 to 1995 and produced and co-ordinated Wella Fashion Collections from 1996 to 1997. She was Chair of St Margaret’s College Trust Board from 1994 to 2003 and Deputy Chair of the Independent Schools Association from 1999 to 2003. She has been involved with numerous charitable and community service groups especially in relation to child cancer.
