Simon Power
Hon Simon Power, of Auckland, received the Insignia of a Companion of the Queen's Service Order, for services as a Member of Parliament. Mr Power was the Member of Parliament for Rangitikei from 1999 until 2011 and served as Minister of Justice, Minister for State-Owned Enterprises, Minister of Commerce, Minister of Consumer Affairs, Associate Minister of Finance and Deputy Leader of the House from 2008 to 2011. Previously he held roles as the National Party’s spokesman on Labour, Industrial Relations, Youth Affairs, Justice, Tertiary Education, Defence and Veterans' Affairs. Mr Power was named legal news website Lawfuel’s Lawyer of the Year in 2011 for his impact on the legal system during his term as Minister of Justice. His reform of share market law and regulation earned him a New Zealand Shareholders’ Association Award in 2011. He is now head of Westpac Private Bank, the premium personal customer branch of Westpac Bank.
