Mrs Gaynor Brown, QSM, Auckland
For services to education. Mrs Gaynor Brown has been employed as a secondary teacher at the Starship Hospital since 2003, where she is involved in caring for teenagers in the psychiatric/psychological programme, and is part of the Child and Family Unit. She worked at Nga Tapuwae Community College Southern Cross Campus in East Mangere for nearly 30 years from 1976, including as Deputy Principal. She contributed to the development of the Southern Cross Campus which combines pre-school, primary, intermediate, secondary, and kura education on one campus. For the past 18 years, Mrs Brown has been a member of the board of the Ambury Park Centre for riding therapy at Mangere Bridge, including as President from 2008. Ambury Park caters mainly for young people, including infants, who have physiological, psychological, educational and psychiatric challenges.
