Mrs Janet Gow, QSM, Auckland.
For services to genealogical research. Mrs Jan Gow has worked in various voluntary roles within the New Zealand Society of Genealogists for the past 29 years. During that time she spent three years as treasurer, and three years as the New Zealand President and established the Saint Heliers and Panmure branches of the Society. She has been instrumental in organising the transcription and preservation of school admission registers and the indexing of probate records, which enable family researchers to trace family members’ movements throughout the country. Since 1987 she has been the owner of Beehive Books, selling books on genealogy for genealogists and family historians. Since 1992 she has organised 'Hooked on Genealogy' tours, taking New Zealanders to the United States and the United Kingdom to help them on a one-to-one basis with their family history. In 2006 Mrs Gow was the recipient of the Australasian Federation of Family History Organisations Award for Meritorious Service to Family History.
