Howard Broad, CNZM, Wellington
For services as Commissioner of Police. Mr Broad was appointed to the role of New Zealand Police Commissioner in 2006. Before this, he was District Commander of Auckland City. In his tenure as Police Commissioner, he oversaw the introduction of the Policing Act in 2008, which provided the platform for the New Zealand Police to become a more modern, professional police force. He has demonstrated a commitment to community policing. Mr Broad has worked closely with public service Chief Executives to ensure that the Police play an integral part in multi-agency work serving the communities of New Zealand.
