David Tamatea, Opunake, QSM for services to disability support and Māori
Mr David Tamatea has been involved in the disability sector for more than 25 years and is an advocate for Māori with disabilities. He was a project co-ordinator at the Taranaki District Health Board and a member of the Board’s Community, Public Health and Disability Support Advisory Committee. He is a member of the Ministry of Health’s Māori Disability Leadership Group and the National Reference Group for the Ministry’s New Model for Supporting Disabled People. He co-ordinates the Taranaki region of the Māori Disability Network and is Chair of the Taranaki Disabilities Information Centre. Mr Tamatea is an iwi representative and Deputy Chair of the Taranaki Iwi Trust.
