Dennis O'Rourke, Palmerston North, MNZM, for services to the New Zealand Police and the community
Mr Dennis O’Rourke has served in the New Zealand Police for 43 years, has been involved with Lions for 22 years, and is a trustee of the Airways Gallery Trust in Palmerston North and the Camp Quality Endowment Trust. Mr O’Rourke has been a Police Negotiator and was a longstanding member of the Palmerston North Criminal Investigation Unit. He continues to serve as an investigator of financial crime. In his 30 years' service in the Territorial Force he served two postings to the New Zealand Embassy in Moscow. In 2005 he chaired the National Lions Council of District Governors and is currently Chairman of the Executive Management Committee of the Lions Multiple District comprising New Zealand and the Islands of the South Pacific. Mr O’Rourke has been involved with the Royal Aeronautical Society for more than 16 years and currently serves as the Chairman of the Manawatu Branch.
