Ms Metuakore Bates-Faasisila, QSM, Auckland
For services to the Cook Islands community. Ms Metuakore Bates-Faasisila is the Vice President and a founding member of the Cook Islands Health Network Association. She was the Vice President of the Auckland branch of PACIFICA, and the national treasurer. She has been actively involved in PACIFICA since 1992, and strongly supports the organisation’s principles of maintaining Pacific cultures and strengthening Pacific communities. She has more than 33 years' experience in the health sector and has worked extensively within the Pacific community in New Zealand to promote positive health outcomes as a foundation member of the Cook Islands Nurses Association. She was the recipient of the Pacific Health Leadership Award in 2002. Since 1994 Ms Bates-Faasisila has run a consultancy in health, education and social services.
