Robyn Towersey, Whakatane, QSM, for services to health and the community
Mrs Robyn Towersey is a survivor of cancer who is heavily involved with cancer-related support groups in Whakatane, Opotiki and the Eastern Bay of Plenty. She was a member of the Project HOPE Committee from 2005, which raised $1.5 million for the building of a cancer treatment centre at the Whakatane Hospital, which opened in 2008. She designed and installed the gardens at the front of the centre and continues to maintain them as well as volunteering as a receptionist at the centre several times a month. She is involved with the ‘Look Good Feel Better’ campaign for women undergoing cancer treatment and the Breast Cancer Support Group. She has been involved with Quota International since 1982 and is currently the District 37 Club to Club Service Representative. She was previously the Chair of Quota International’s Disadvantaged Women and Children Committee. Mrs Towersey is currently trustee of the Opotiki Community Health Trust and the Opotiki Community Foundation.
