For services to the arts. Mrs Piera McArthur is a contemporary artist who has been painting in New Zealand and overseas for more than 40 years. She lived and worked for many years in Paris, and held the first solo exhibition by a New Zealander in Moscow at the New Tretiakov Gallery in 1990. She returned to New Zealand and established a studio in Hawke's Bay. She has held numerous exhibitions in Auckland, Christchurch, Hawke’s Bay and Wellington since her return. Mrs McArthur is known for her vivid interpretations of people and movement. She often contributes her work to charity and group shows.
