Christopher Kenny, ONZM, Porirua.
For services to boxing. Mr Christopher Kenny has coached boxing in Porirua, and at national and international levels for more than four decades. He won a gold medal at the Australasian Championships in 1963. He began coaching in Porirua in 1967 and is still active as a coach with the Porirua Amateur Boxing Club. He has represented the Wellington and Hutt Valley Boxing Association as a coach or manager to the Annual National Championships and as a delegate to Boxing New Zealand Annual General Meetings for the last 40 years. He has coached New Zealand at Oceania, Commonwealth and Olympic Games. Under Mr Kenny, Porirua Club boxers have represented New Zealand boxing at Oceania level and have won seven gold medals. He has served on the National Boxing Coaches Association Committee as Chair and is currently President of the Wellington & Hutt Valley Boxing Association. He is a life member of Boxing New Zealand. Mr Kenny received the Porirua City Council Services to Sport Award in 2002 and the New Zealand Services to Boxing Award in 2004.
