Paul Berry, Greymouth, QSM, for services to the community
Mr Paul Berry is in his sixth consecutive term as Councillor on the Grey District Council and has repeatedly volunteered his time and resources to a significant number of projects in the Grey District. Mr Berry donated and prepared a section of his own land for the Pike River Families Personal Memorial Site at the Atarau turnoff to the mine. He has co-ordinated donations from local contractors of machinery, materials and labour as well as offering his own time and resources to the site preparations of the $11 million Greymouth Aquatic Centre, a new SPCA complex and the West Coast District Headquarters for the Order of Saint John. He was a founding director and is now the Chair of the West Coast Cooperative Trading Society. He was President of West Coast Federated Farmers from 1988 to 1992 and continues to be a member of the executive. Mr Berry helped establish the West Coast Rural Support Trust, and has been a trustee since 2008.
