Jean Rutherford, QSM, Woodend.
For services to the community. Mrs Jean Rutherford, a Fellow of Trinity College, London, with a Licentiate from the Royal Schools of Music, has contributed to the musical life of Christchurch for more than 30 years. She has worked with choral societies, and students of instrumental music, singing and ballet. She was an official pianist at the New Zealand Ballet Awards, and is accompanist for the Harmony Singers Women’s Choir. She recently retired after 10 years as the accompanist for the South Brighton Choral Society, and after 18 years as the accompanist for the Christchurch Liedertafel Choir. For many years she was the secretary of the National Concerto Competition. In addition to her musical contributions, Mrs Rutherford has served on the local arrangements committees for Christchurch Presbyterian General Assemblies, and for eight years was a national executive member of Church Women United.
