Sir John Todd, KNZM, Wellington.
For services to business. Sir John Todd is the former Chair of the Todd Corporation, one of New Zealand’s largest companies, and is Chair of the Todd Foundation. Following the Christchurch earthquakes, he established the Todd Foundation Earthquake Recovery Fund. He has served on the boards of a number of high-profile companies including AGC NZ Limited, General Finance Limited, Mitsubishi Motors New Zealand and the advisory board of the Westpac Banking Corporation. He has served as a member of the Overseas Investment Commission, is a past President of the Wellington Manufacturer’s Association and was made a Distinguished Fellow of the Institute of Directors in 2001. He was a founding trustee of the Arts Foundation of New Zealand and a trustee of the Royal New Zealand Ballet and the Queen Elizabeth II Arts Council. He has chaired the boards of the New Zealand School of Dance, the New Zealand Ballet Foundation and the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award New Zealand Foundation. He is a trustee of the Volunteer Service Abroad. He was inducted as a laureate in 2011 to the Fairfax Media New Zealand Business Hall of Fame in recognition of his services to energy, investment and philanthropy. Sir John was made a companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit, for services to business and the community, in 2009.
