Paul Ferris, QSM, Glenorchy.
For services to education. Mr Paul Ferris retired as the founding Principal of Kavanagh College in Dunedin in July 2010 after almost 20 years in the position. Over this time, he developed the school into one of the largest co-educational schools in Dunedin, which is highly regarded for its excellence in education and its pastoral care. In 2004 and 2005 he was the President of the Secondary Principals' Association of New Zealand. He has been involved with Education Dunedin, a charitable trust established to attract international students to Dunedin and then into tertiary study in New Zealand. Mr Ferris was instrumental in establishing the Dunedin Secondary Schools Partnership in 2000 and was the inaugural President. He received the New Zealand Catholic Education Office Laureate Award in 2009. In 2006, Mr Ferris received the Secondary Principals' Association of New Zealand Leadership Award and was made a Life Member of the Association in 2010.
