Robyn Mathieson, Wellington, MNZM, for services to fashion
Ms Robyn Mathieson has grown her fashion label, Robyn Mathieson Design, from a small, shared retail space to a nationally sought-after brand. She started Robyn Mathieson Design in Wellington in 1986 and currently maintains two successful stores, one in Auckland and one in Wellington. Due to demand for her brand she is also a supplier to a further 20 stores nationwide. Alongside her clothing ranges she produces handcrafted silver and semi-precious gemstone jewellery for her stores. She maintains respect for the New Zealand fashion industry and determines to keep all her manufacturing within the country. She achieved national success at the 1997 and 1998 Smokefree Fashion Awards and her designs showed at the 2001 Melbourne Fashion Week. Ms Mathieson’s designs are regularly featured in national magazines and newspapers.
