Ross Mckenzie, Kaiapoi, QSM, for services to Scouting New Zealand
Mr Ross McKenzie was a member and then the Chair of the Asia-Pacific Scout Region, which involved considerable overseas travel, all at his own expense. He has provided more than 40 years of volunteer service to the New Zealand and international Scouting movement. From being an Assistant Scout Leader in Malvern, Canterbury, in 1969, Mr McKenzie moved to Venturers, Scouting and by 1992 had been appointed as National Venturer Commissioner. He took on the National Training Commissioner role, and was appointed as the National Training Leader in 2001. He was Vice President of Scouting New Zealand for five years, and was made a life member in 2006. In 2008 he was the first person to be awarded the Scouts Distinguished Service Award. Mr McKenzie has been the New Zealand Contingent Leader to several World Jamborees and the Camp Chief at the last two New Zealand Jamborees.
