Monsignor O’Gorman
The Reverend Monsignor Bede Brian O’Gorman, of Christchurch, received The Queen's Service Medal for services to the community. Monsignor O’Gorman served the Catholic Diocese of Christchurch as a priest for 58 years. He worked in many different parishes in Christchurch and the wider Canterbury and West Coast regions and was chaplain to the Christchurch Police for 27 years. Monsignor O’Gorman was a member of the Royal New Zealand Air Force Chaplaincy, which included a two-year attachment to the New Zealand Forces in Singapore in 1972 to 1973.
