Margaret Foster
Margaret Foster, of Christchurch, received the Insignia of a Member of The New Zealand Order of Merit for services to sport, in particular netball. Ms Foster has contributed to sport, particularly netball as a player, administrator, and coach for many years. She has represented New Zealand in netball, touch rugby, and athletics, including playing for the Silver Ferns and as a member of the New Zealand Mixed Touch Team. She was also the Māori Sportsperson of the Year in 1997 and 2004. She is the director of Motivationz, a school netball programme. She was an independent director of New Zealand Indoor Sports and a trustee of the Life Education Trust. She was a founding member of Female Athletes Motivating Excellence and has been a judge for the Sir Richard Hadlee Awards and the Sport Canterbury Winter/Summer Awards. Ms Foster has been a guest speaker for many charitable organisations and is the ambassador for the Breast Cancer Foundation.
